Green Peas Vada Recipe

This green peas vada recipe is easy to make.


You can serve this green peas vada as a snack or as a side dish along with a meal.

It is a good addition to a festival meal or as a starter for a party.

You can also take them for a picnic.

We use the dried peas for this recipe.

How to make green peas vada - Green pea fritters


Ingredients for peas vada



Dry Green peas - 1 cup (you will need to soak them)
Onion chopped - 1/4 cup
Green chilies chopped - 2 tsp(more or less according to taste)
Ginger chopped - 1tsp
Coriander leaves chopped - 4 tsp

Preparation to do before you start cooking


Check the dried green peas for any impurities and remove them.
Wash the peas and soak them for 6-8 hours. Overnight is better.
Drain the soaked peas.

Grind soaked green peas along with salt. It need not be very finely ground. Remove into a bowl.

Making green peas vada


Add chopped onions, green chilies, ginger and coriander into crushed green peas and mix well.

Heat oil in a kadai/fryer. Once the oil is hot, turn the heat to medium.

Divide the green peas mixture into small lime size balls and flatten each ball to make vadas.

Deep fry the flattened vada in oil on medium heat. Fry a few vadas at a time (depending on the size of your fryer.)

Serve crisp green peas vadas hot with chutney.

These vadas taste good even at room temperature.
You can also add soaked toor dal(pigeon peas) along with green peas if you wish.
