Mixed Lentil Curry

This tirangi creamy dal - Mixed lentil curry recipe is a healthy side dish.


This curry may be served at lunch or dinner along with roti, chapati, paratha, naan, plain rice etc.

Tirangi means three colored. We are adding three dals - lentil varieties to this curry.

This makes it more nutritious and yummy too.




How to make tirangi creamy dal - Mixed Lentil curry


Ingredients for tirangi creamy dal recipe


1/2 cup chana dal (bengal gram, split chickpeas)
1/2 cup urad dal - (Black lentils - whole)
1/2 cup Rajma(red kidney beans)
1 onion chopped
1 tomato (pureed)
3 green chilies
1 piece ginger(grated)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Coriander leaves - chopped
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup cream
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds

Method to make tirangi creamy dal


Soak rajma,urad dal, chana dal in sufficient water for 3-4 hours.
Cook all dals in the pressure cooker.
Heat butter in the pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry until they pop.
Add ginger and green chilies.
Fry for few seconds, add chopped onions and pureed tomato. Cook until done.
Add salt, red chili and coriander powder. And mix well.
Add dal and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
Add cream, coriander leaves and mix well.

Serve hot with rice, Nan or chapatti.
