Kara Kuzhambu Spicy Sambhar South Indian Recipe

Kara kuzhambu or khara kolambu is a south Indian recipe.


It is a good accompaniment to plain rice or chapaties.


How to make kara kuzambu or khara kulambu


Ingredients for khara kuzambu


Ingredients for paste :


1. coconut - 1 cup
2. green chillies - 3
3. ginger - 1 inch
4. garlic - 1/2 bulb

Ingredients or gravy :


1. onion - 3 big
2. tomato - 5 big
3. mustard seeds - 1 tsp
4. meethi seeds - 1 tsp
5. hing - pinch
6. curry patta - 4- 5 leaves
7. garlic - 1/ 2 flower
8. sambar masala - 2 tbsp
9. red chilly powder - 1 tsp
10. corriander powder - 1 1/2 tsp
11. drumsticks - 1
12. tamarind water
13. corriander
14. ghee

Method to make khara kuzambu


1. Heat oil in pan.
2. Add mustard seeds, methi seeds, hing, curry patta and garlic and saute.
3. Add onions and cook for some time.
4. Add tomatoes and cook till tomato softens.
5. Add salt and sambar masala.
6. Add coriander powder and red chilly powder.
7. Add drumsticks.
8. Add water.
9. After the veggies are cooked add little tamarind water .
10. Serve hot with rice and garnish with coriander leaves and ghee.

IT is not easy to make but taste delicious ...... i usually make this dish for birthday parties .....
this dish is from south India.....

i hv eaten this with idli and dosa when i was in my frnds home..... it was so good in taste ... now i m gonna make it surely after sometimes....
