Dalia Upma Recipe - Cracked Wheat Upma
Dalia upma or cracked wheat upma is a healthy breakfast recipe.
Dalia is nutritious and is used to make sweet as well as savory items. It is good to add dalia to a breakfast dish.
A variety of chopped vegetables are added to make this dish healthy and nutritious.
Ingredients for dalia upma
dalia / cracked wheat - 1 cup
olive oil/ vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
jeera (cumin seed) - 1/2 tsp
onion chopped - 1/2 cup
vegetables such as beana, carrots, capsicum,potato, sweet corn etc. chopped - 1 cup
tomatoes -2. Made into puree.
How to make Dalia Upma
-Take one bowl of roasted dalia and soak it in warm water for half an hour.
-After half an hour strain it and wash it under fresh water for half a minute. Leave it aside.
-In a pan put some olive oil. When it heats up put some jeera(cumin seeds). When it crackles ,add chopped onions.
-Fry the onions till they turn golden brown
-Add chopped chillies ginger ,potatoes ,capcicum ,beans,carrot ,corn
-Saute all the vegetables for five minutes.
-Make a puree of two tomatoes add it to the vegetables.
-Again fry for a minute
-Now add salt to taste. Add either red chilli powder or black pepper powder according to your taste.
-Now add the dalia. Make sure all the water is strained out from dalia.
-Keep stirring for few minutes
Serve it garnished with coriander leaves.
Serve with coriander and mint chutney.
