Masala chai tea that I missed
by Namita
About 30 years back, we used to stay in Bombay-Mumbai. I was newly married. I visited Nasik in the state of Maharashtra along with my husband and elderly in-laws. Early morning, we got ready to visit the temple. Before going to temple, we decided to have tea/coffee at a nearby place. We had planned to have a good breakfast only after visiting the temple. I remember the place was called ‘muktidham’. We came across a gujarati establishment. He said only tea and coffee were available at that time. I asked for a ‘masala chai’ while others opted for coffee. The ‘Masala chai’ came steaming hot. I have never forgotten the aroma and the taste of that wonderful tea. I have drunk many time a masala chai tea’ at home as well as at other places. I wanted a second cup of that wonderful tea but we were already running late so did not order again. I thought we would come back later in the day for a meal. I wanted to ask if they would tell me the recipe for that masala chai mix. I wonder if they would have given me that. But that did not happen. We just did not visit that place again and never got that second cup of masala tea. I do not know if that place is still around after these 30 years.
